VNP FOREST - FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

The “VNP Forest – For a Sustainable Future” campaign is a joint effort between VNP and GAIA Nature Conservation Center. The campaign’s aim is to establish and monitor a 1.25-hectare section of native forest within the Dong Nai Natural and Cultural Reserve, which forms part of the Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve.

This particular area, spanning 10,000 hectares, was established in 2004 and boasts significant biodiversity, including the Trị An hydroelectric reservoir. The forested area will be carefully tended by GAIA for four years after planting to ensure a high survival rate of the trees. It is situated in an ecological restoration zone, where unauthorized exploitation is strictly prohibited. The Reserve Management Board will be responsible for managing and safeguarding the forested area beyond the initial four-year period.

AIMS OF THE CAMPAIGN

Preservation of water resources and soil protection, erosion prevention, oxygen provision, CO2 absorption, and active participation in climate change mitigation. Additionally, it’s about safeguarding the remaining wild elephant population in Vietnam.

Promoting forest conservation and fostering a generation of environmentally-conscious individuals who possess a genuine love for nature and sustainable development. By doing so, we can cultivate a resonant movement that drives us towards a greener and more sustainable future for Vietnam.

To provides a chance for the VNPers+ community to connect, exchange, and experience nature together on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of VNP.

HOW TO JOIN?

TREE DONATION

A donation of 10€ enables the contribution of ONE tree towards the VNP Forest, inclusive of expenses related to the tree’s nurturing and ensuring its optimal growth for the next four years

 

AFFORESTATION EXPEDITION

By registering for the “VNP Forest Day” event, scheduled for July 30th, 2023, you will have the opportunity to personally plant trees within the 1.25 ha VNP forest and enjoy the practice of “forest bathing” at the Dong Nai Cultural and Natural Conservation Area. The associated cost of the trip is 80€ per individual.

ITNERARY OF “VNP FOREST DAY”

SUNDAY 30/07/2023 | DONG NAI NATURAL AND CULTURAL RESERVE

6:00 AM: Meet up at 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City for the start of the trip.

6:15 AM:

  • Depart by vehicle for Dong Nai Natural and Cultural Conservation Area, situated 70 km from Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Attendees will be given an overview of regulations, learn about the local flora and fauna, and receive an introduction to tree planting efforts.
  • Breakfast will be served on board.

8:30 AM: Arrive at Dong Nai and take a brief rest.

9:00 AM:

  • VNPers+ will be transported to the designated tree planting area, where they will begin afforestation work and contribute to the establishment of a VNP forest.
  • Besides the main task, participants will engage in various mini-games, including taking check-in photos, collecting leaves to distinguish tree species, identifying animal footprints, measuring tree height, and guessing the life cycle of trees.

11:30 AM: Break for lunch at the Southeast Regional Committee.

12:30 PM: Embark on a guided walk to explore the tropical forest, take in the refreshing atmosphere, sounds, and fragrances of the forest, learn about different tree species, and participate in a “forest bathing” experience.

3:00 PM: Return to Ho Chi Minh City to conclude the trip.
