MASTER OF SCIENCE IN APPLIED ECONOMICS (MAE)

Module 1: ECONOMICS (12 credits)

This module helps analyse the operation of the economy, the decision-making process of firms, customers’ behaviors, and the commercialization under the challenges of global competition and climate changes.

Module 2: FINANCE (12 credits)

This module helps analyse the financial decision-makings of firms, international capital flows, the functioning of financial requirements and the operation in financial markets.

Module 3: ANALYTICAL TOOLS (20 credits)

This module helps master skills of data collection, and data analysis using multiple analytical tools, econometrics and scientific data; skill of Academic English writing, critical thinking and debate; method of approaching problems in different perspectives.

THESIS (14 credits)

This module helps students practice a method of merging data with their knowledge of economics & finance to propose valuable recommendations to solve firms’ problems and economy’s issues or assist students to propose some conceptual models of economy’s operation and customers’ behaviors.

Students have two options to do thesis:

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

1. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

• Candidates who have a diploma (or are eligible to graduate) from a university in the fields of economics, business, or management.
• Candidates graduating (or qualifying for graduation) from universities in the fields of non-economics need additional certificates of knowledge (See information on opening additional knowledge classes at the UEH School of Graduate)

2. ENGLIGH REQUIREMENTS

Candidates need to meet the English language requirements, in particular, have one of the following diplomas or certificates:

• Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in English Language, or
• Bachelor’s degree with the training program is mainly in English, or
• One of the following English certificates, valid as of the application date:

• TOEIC (4 skills: Listening, min 400 – Reading, min 385 – Speaking, min 160- Writing, min 150)
• TOEFL iBT 46
• IELTS 5.5
• B2
• Other equivalent certificates

Applicants who have not meet the above requirement can take an English Assessment Test at VNP.

3. RECRUITMENT METHOD:
   

 Application documents should include:

• Bachelor’s degree or Certificate of Eligibility for Graduation
• University Program Transcript
• Competency certificates and professional training
• Certificates of Merit, Awards, Certificates of Achievements in the process of studying, researching, and working (if any)
• Personal curriculum vitae (CV) written in English
• A high-quality photo of the candidate
• An essay written in English, 800-1500 words in length, presenting any topic about economics, business, finance, banking, or culture or society that interests the candidate most.

4. RECRUITMENT PROCESS: including 2 rounds

Round 1: Reviewing documents

The VNP Admissions Committee evaluates applications and selects qualified candidates for an interview. Candidates will be informed of the time and place of the interview via email.

Round 2: Interview (tentatively on June 19, 2022)

The VNP Admission Committee interviews each candidate individually. The language used is English. The content of the interview revolves around the application and the essay that the candidate has submitted in the application.

Candidates who pass 2 rounds of interview and admission will receive an official admission notice from the program and be admitted from July/August 2022.
