Abstract:

This thesis investigates the relationship between environmental degradation and economic development. The research uses satellite data to estimate panel data models of 245 industrial zones from 1998 to 2016. The regression results show that there is an inverted U-shaped curve between economic development and emissions of fine particulate matter. In addition, there is evidence that there exists a spillover effect of fine particulate matter density between neighboring industrial zones.
